How to change the owner of a RapidCents account?

Posted on 2023-04-19 Updated on 2023-05-19

Transferring ownership of a RapidCents account is a straightforward process. Whether you're looking to shift the responsibility of ownership or someone is departing your organization, you can easily transfer ownership of your RapidCents account. Follow these simple steps to ensure a smooth transition.

- Transferring account ownership to an existing Administrator:

If you are the current owner of a RapidCents account and wish to transfer ownership to an existing Administrator, simply log into your RapidCents account, navigate to the Team section under Business Settings, click Edit next to the user you want to make the new account owner, and select the option to Transfer ownership to this user from the popup.

- Transferring account ownership to an existing user without Administrator permissions

To transfer ownership of a RapidCents account to another user, the recipient must first be granted Administrator permissions. To do this, log in as the current owner and visit the Team settings under Business Settings. Click Edit next to the user you wish to make the owner, set their role to “Administrator” and click Update. Then, click the Edit button next to the user again and select the option to Transfer ownership to this user from the popup before saving.

- Are you looking to transfer ownership of an account to someone who currently does not have access?

To transfer ownership of a RapidCents account to a new user, they must first be invited to the account. Log in as the current owner and navigate to Business Settings. Select 'New User' and enter the invitee's email address. Set their role to 'Administrator' and save to send the invitation. Once they have accepted the invite, return to the Team settings. Click the 'Edit' button next to their name and select the option to 'Transfer ownership to this user' to complete the process.

- Things to know

The current owner of the account is the only person who can transfer ownership away from themselves. If the owner is no longer with the company, please contact RapidCents Support for assistance.

If the Owner Administrator account is not accessible and the Company Representative wishes to transfer ownership to another user, we will need to call the Company Representative to verify their personally identifiable information (PII) and get their authorization to transfer ownership.

In the event that the Owner Administrator account is not accessible and the Company Representative is not available, we require a letter on company letterhead from a company signatory confirming and detailing the change of Company Representative and the transfer of ownership of the RapidCents account. The letter should include the business name, tax ID, address, previous Company Representative’s name and date of birth (if available), new Company Representative’s name and date of birth, and new Owner Administrator’s email address. Please note that the signatory on this letter must not be the same person who is being appointed as the new Company Representative.

We highly recommend that the person who holds the title of Company Representative is also the person who controls the Owner Administrator login for the RapidCents account.
